Due to the recent uptick in positive coronavirus cases in Connecticut and out of an abundance of caution, we are making temporary adjustments to our hours. We are making these changes in order to provide the safest possible library experience for our staff and community.
NEW HOURS: Effective Monday, November 30, the Library will be open Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday from 11:00 AM until 5:00 PM and Wednesday from 2:00 PM to 8 PM.
The Following Procedures Remain in Effect
Masks are required at all times while in the Library building. If you are unable to wear a mask, please see below for information on our curbside pickup service.
Social Distancing: Please maintain a 6-foot distance from other patrons while in the library. While browsing the library shelves, we ask that only one patron (or family group) be in any aisle section at a time.
Holds: Holds may be placed on materials using the online catalog or by calling the library. You will receive an email, text, or phone call when your materials are available and you may come to the library during open hours to pick them up. Please expect delays when placing holds on materials from other libraries.
Curbside Pickup: If you would prefer curbside pickup, please call the library to request it when your holds are available. We will arrange a time to pick up materials in front of the Library.
Book Returns: All items must be returned in the outside book drops. We will not accept returns inside the Library. All returned materials will be held for 72 hours before being checked in.
Public Computers: Patrons may make appointments to use the public computers and/or copier, printer, or fax. Four computers will be available for patron use and spaced apart for social distancing. Appointments can be made by calling the library at 860-349-9544 daily beginning at 10 am. Walk-in appointments will be accommodated as available. Appointments are first come, first serve for that day and last 30 minutes. Due to social distancing guidelines, staff are not available to directly assist patrons using the computers. Terminals and equipment will be cleaned between uses.
Public wifi may be accessed from the parking lot or in the building. Wifi sessions inside the building are limited to 30 minutes.
Children’s Room: For the safety of our patrons, all children’s toys and computers are currently in storage. We will not be circulating board books at this time. Children must be accompanied by a responsible adult.
The following services will continue to be available:
We will continue to offer a wide array of digital resources, including books, audiobooks, music, streaming movies and television, digital subscriptions to newspapers and magazines, and streaming arts and crafts classes at durhamlibrary.org/digital-resources/.
We are offering a limited number of programs such as book discussions online using the Zoom platform. Please check our calendar for dates. Registration is required for all online programs.
Please ask us if you have any questions. We will update everyone should the situation change. Please check the library website and follow us on social media for updates. In the meantime, please stay healthy and safe!
