Library of Things

We have much more than books! Check out board games, a portable DVD, player, binoculars, or even a telescope!

TELESCOPE: Do you want to get a better look at the stars at night? You can! The Astronomical Society of New Haven has graciously made available a telescope for patrons to check out from Durham Public Library. The Orion StarBlast 4.5” Reflector Telescope is available to all ages for 1 week at a time. All you need to take the telescope home is a CT library card in good standing. Learn more about our telescope here.

BINOCULARS: Birding for Pleasure is a local organization that promotes recreational birding. They have generously made four pairs of birding binoculars available to local residents at the Durham Public Library. Binoculars may be checked out for one week by adults with a valid library card, and come with a carrying case and instruction booklet. Learn more here.

PORTABLE DVD PLAYERS: On Vacation or a Long Car Trip? Take out one of our portable DVD players and keep the family entertained! Learn more here.

PORTABLE CD PLAYER: Have an album or audiobook that’s only available on CD? No longer have a CD player in your car? Borrow our portable CD player!

WIFI HOTSPOTS: Check out the Internet! Learn more here.

LAWN GAMES: Looking for something fun to do in your own backyard this summer? Check out our new lawn games! We have eight new games that you can take home for a week to play in your backyard, in a park, or wherever the fun may take you! Learn more here.
