Are you reading to “Build A Better World ” at the Durham Public Library this summer?

Starting Monday, June 19th  Register for our Wandoo Summer Reading Program, read, participate in challenges and attend library programs to collect prizes and tickets towards a charitable donation!

 


Drop-in Storytimes

Mad Science Mondays

Mondays at 4:30PM (Grades K-2) & 6:30PM (Grades 3-5)

Join Miss Alex for some STE(A)M based activities every Monday this summer! Registration required. (You can pick each week you want to attend on our forms!) Registration opens June 19th.

July Programs


Construction  Scavenger Hunt in the Children’s Department

7/1-7/31

Visit the Children’s Department to see if you can find all the pictures of construction equipment hidden around the kids area! Then take your completed scavenger hunt sheet to the front desk for a prize! Play as many times as you want all month long!

 


Crafternoon

Thursdays at 2PM

7/6, 7/13, 7/20, 7/27, 8/3

Kids in grades 3 and up can join Miss Alex every Thursday in the month of July to make some crafts and share snacks! Please register for each session. Limit 15. Registration opens June 19th . REGISTER HERE.


Kids’ Only Tag Sale

Saturday 7/8 

Set up 9AM-10AM

Sale 10AM-12PM

A sale where only kids can sell, but anyone can buy! Ages 5-18 (12 & under with a parent).

Registration opens June 19th. To register stop by the front desk or call the Library at 860-349-9544.
Please bring the following if you plan to sell:

  • kid’s items ONLY
  • a blanket and or table
  • items marked with prices
  • a parent if you are under 13 years of age
  • Please take home any unsold items and move your cars to the side after unloading.

Harry Potter Book Club

Tuesdays at 6:30PM

Muggle and Wizard families, children, and teens are encouraged to join the library’s Harry Potter Book Club. We will be discussing one book a week for the whole summer. There will be Potter-themed snacks, games, crafts, and trivia for everyone. You can attend just one week or all of them! Registration encouraged, but not required.  REGISTER HERE.

Kids Tai Chi

Wednesday , 7/12 at 10AM

Ages 5 & up

Parents and children 5 & up can join Miss Gina for a Tai Chi lesson. Relaxing fun for everyone.


LEGO Robotics Session 2

Wednesday, 7/12 at 3PM

It’s Back! Ages 7 — 11 years can build and program a simple robot using LEGO WeDo Robotics kits. (Please sign up for only one session.) Registration opens two weeks before each class. Limit 9. REGISTER HERE.


 

Tween Glitter Tattoo

Wednesday, 7/19 at 3PM

Tweens in grades 4 through 6 can come make exciting and sparkly glitter tattoos! All supplies provided. Please register, space is limited. REGISTER HERE.


Ice Cream Party: Make Your Own Ice Cream

Friday, 7/21 at 2PM
