Library Lowers Fines & Allows Renewals on DVDs

Need more time to watch that movie or TV show? Now you can renew your DVDs!

Under a new policy approved by the Library Board of Trustees at their March 12 meeting, DVDs, which are available for 7-day checkout, can be renewed up to twice, for a maximum of 21 days. And if you still forget to return it on time, it will be a less costly mistake from now on. The Library Board of Trustees lowered the fines on DVDs from $1 per day to 10 cents per day.

These changes make the borrowing rules for DVDs the same as the rules for books, which also have late charges of 10 cents per day and allow up to 2 renewals. As with books, items cannot be renewed if other patrons have holds on those items.

These changes do not apply to the Express DVD collection. Express DVDs continue to circulate for 3 days, with no renewals, and late fines of $2/day.

Previous late fines on patron accounts will not be automatically adjusted — please see a staff member for assistance and we will manually adjust the fines.
